Set out on a walk to St Cuthbert’s Cave, just a few miles from Belford. The highlight of this circular walk is the cave itself, where Lindisfarne monks reputedly brought St Cuthbert’s body in AD875 following Viking raids on Holy Island. Grab your binoculars and head to nearby Waren Mill and Budle Bay to watch thousands of waders and wildfowl on the tidal lagoon there.

Take the children to meet the llamas at Sunnyhills Farm Shop where you can stock up on local produce.

Jump on the bus and make for a short hop to the coastal villages of Bamburgh, Seahouses and Beadnell. Belford is midway between the coast and breathtaking wilderness of the Northumberland National Park affording the perfect exploring base.
