Holy Island Crossing Times

Holy Island Travel Information

A trip to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne is a must when visiting Northumberland. This unique island a mile off the mainland in the North Sea is cut off twice daily by fast incoming tides.  Linked by a causeway, it is vital to check safe crossing times before crossing to or from the island.

An additional walking path across the sands and mudflats is marked on Ordnance Survey maps and on many online mapping resources. It is recommended that walkers use the solid path alongside the causeway road.

Remember to allow plenty of time to cross and never risk crossing outside the times.

The times in the timetable below apply to the road and adjacent path causeway only.
